The final part of the Crystal Key series
In the final part of the tetralogy, the Falknov glassworks is partly returned to the ownership of the Heřman family, although this is at a time when the North Bohemian glass industry is not doing nearly as well as before. The individual members of the family continue what they have started, and as it happens, not everyone succeeds. Matthias stays with his yarn trade, but the linen business is doing well. This benefits Vilemína, who gains influence on the Kamenice estate thanks to her son, whose secret father is Count Kinský.
Pavlina is an equally successful businesswoman, who becomes rich from military supplies of rifle barrels because of the death of Emperor Charles VI. the protracted wars over the Austrian heritage will begin. This is a tricky matter for the eldest man of the family, Johann, who has to decide between the nobility and his family as a manorial official.
