Czech Republic of Readers
The book on contemporary Czech reading culture is based on anonymous reader biographies recorded between 2009 and 2015. These statements (138 in total) serve as the basis for a threefold view of our readership. The generational angle portrays four generations (radio, television, computer and internet), specifically what they had to go through and what their dominant features are. The second perspective (phenomena) deals with thematic intersections, thus, what the individual reader biographies revealed - for example, Grandma, Detective, film and book, Renegade, required reading, Chef, Types, bans and more. The third angle (biographies) presents nine life stories that are both typical and thought-provoking in some way, all with little interpretive help.

I also remember how Thursdays were - Title XXII and all that. I stood in those lines. I also remember the Airport. Or Butterfly - he was in quarters too. I've bitten some of Parel's, too, but he doesn't catch me. Was it a different style? It was probably too much for the box, but I've read a few books on the box too, where I had to go back to ask questions when I didn't understand something. Because the guy I mentioned that was trained as a typesetter, he was a box, he was loaded. We also consulted the books with him. I was telling Lada here: "Look, I've read a lot of stuff, but I can't remember... and I have a hard time even remembering the storylines." (private farmer, 59 years old)
