Jan Bauer
With more than 200 book titles, Jan Bauer is the most prolific living Czech author. He wrote some books under the pseudonyms Felix Krumlowský or Anna Březinová. He also participated in collective works such as. on a ten-volume project called Tours of the World's Past. Originally trained as an agricultural engineer, he made his living as a journalist for nearly forty years. Since 2002 he has been devoted exclusively to literature. He writes mainly non-fiction, detective and historical novels, focusing mainly on Czech history. Recently, his two series of historical detective novels featuring the former New Town mayor Jakub Protiva of Protivec or the secret agent of Charles IV. Dominican Paul. For his work he has been honoured with awards such as. Karel Hynek Mácha Prize (1995), Zeyer's Mug (2007) and the prestigious South Bohemian literary prize Číše Petr Vok (2010). He lives in Vodňany, where he founded the traditional annual meeting of writers Zeyer's Vodňany in 2006.
