Destination unknown

Young scientists who have contributed to or worked on something significant that could change the course of the world begin to mysteriously disappear from all across the globe. One of them is the promising researcher Thomas Betterton, whose case is assigned to intelligence officer Mr Jessop. Shortly after, Jessop meets Hilary Craven, who bears a striking resemblance to Betterton's wife, who tragically died in a plane crash. Jessop devises a ruse. Together with Hilary, he embarks on a risky game to track down the organisation that is attempting to take over humanity. This spy detective story by Agatha Christie was first published in English in 1954 under the title Destination Unknown. This is only its second publication in Czech. The 2010 edition, part of the Černá řada (Black Series), was released as Místo určení neznámé and translated by Edda Němcová. The current edition has been translated by Lenka Faltejsková, who chose the new title Cíl neznámý. It is one of the few Agatha Christie books that has not yet been adapted for film or television.
