Elán: They Don' t Get Us Alive (2014) - CD
The new album from the legendary band!
All members of the band—Jožo Ráž, Ján Baláž, and Vašo Patejdl—contributed to the twelve new songs.
Other well-known artists also feature among the songwriters, including Pavol Jursa, Kamil Peteraj, Martin Sarvaš, Peter Farnbauer, and more.
The first tasters from the new studio album were the singles Živých nás nedostanú and Ryšavá.
As a bonus, Elán included the album version of the song Len kým tu si from the successful musical Osmý světadíl (The Eighth Continent), staged at the Kalich Theatre in Prague and the Nová scéna in Bratislava.
Legendary band Elán is currently on their Best of Vol. 2 tour, playing in the largest arenas in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
During the tour, Jožo Ráž and Vašo Patejdl will celebrate their milestone birthdays.
Elán, the most successful Czecho-Slovak band, formed in 1968, has signed a contract with the Warner Music label. The trio of musicians, Jožo Ráž, Ján Baláž, and Vašo Patejdl, agreed with Warner Music in Bratislava to release a new studio album.
Elán's manager, Michal Čimera, and the managing director of Warner Music for the Czech and Slovak Republics, Vladimír Kočandrle, were also present at the contract signing: “For any publisher, a moment like this is a dream come true, because there are few certainties, and one of them is that Elán is by far the biggest Czecho-Slovak pop and rock band. We are honoured that the band leaders, who had intended to only tour, have decided to return to the studio and have entrusted us with their new songs,” Vladimír Kočandrle told journalists at the press conference.
The musicians celebrated the contract signing with Irish whiskey. “I can't believe we signed it,” joked Jožo Ráž during the signing. The first single from the upcoming album is the new recording Živých nás nedostanú. The music and lyrics were written by Pavol Jursa, who collaborated with the band on their first album and is also a sort of non-performing member of Elán. The song was recorded in Ján Baláž's studio. “We were planning to record another album before we finally called it a day. It's a big challenge for us, and when we see a new deadline ahead, we naturally feel motivated and are really looking forward to it. As for the songwriting, the system in the band is that everyone, including co-writers Peter Farnbauer, Ľubo Horňák, and Pavol Jursa, has the right to compose a song,” added Vašo Patejdl.
Elán is the most successful Czecho-Slovak rock group. They won the Czechoslovak Zlatý slavík (Golden Nightingale) award in the band category four times in a row, from 1984 to 1987. They won the Slovak Slávik award eight times in a row, from 1998 to 2005. In addition, Jožo Ráž has two Slávik awards as a singer for the years 2000 and 2001. Their concert in Prague's Letná Park on 20 September 2003 was attended by 85,000 fans. It was one of the highlights of Elán's successful career.
