Fair trade

The present publication deals with the fair trade system, which seeks to improve the position of producers in the so-called "fair trade" countries. global South and provide them with decent living conditions. The two main international fairtrade systems administered by Fairtrade International and WFTO are presented here.

The reader is gradually introduced to the history, principles, benefits and standards of „ fair trade“ as well as up-to-date production and sales data. The author introduces the world of fair trade with examples of selected commodities (cocoa beans and bananas) and individual production regions (Latin America, Africa and Asia). The publication provides an overview of the main topics „ fair“ trading including detailed data. The text is interspersed with examples of the positive impact of fair trade on the lives of women and children. Finally, the development strategy from the perspective of international organisations is discussed.
