Laurent Ponsot, a producer of renowned wines, tells a story straight out of a Hollywood film: a multi-million dollar fraud involving the world's finest wines, deceived experts,
and wealthy collectors, a seemingly upstanding con artist, and an unlikely hero who finds himself at the centre of an FBI investigation.
It all begins in the vineyards of Burgundy, when Ponsot learns of a strange auction in New York. Bottles from his winery, of a vintage that doesn't exist, are set to be auctioned for over half a million dollars. On principle and in the name of his long-standing expertise, he leaves the tranquillity of Burgundy and embarks on a long odyssey through the murky waters of counterfeiting.
