A novel about guilt, punishment and the desire for redemption

The fighting stopped, the screaming stopped,
a thousand eyes bleeding,
the murderer knows what is his,
not the noose, life is the ultimate punishment...
Inspired by true events, A Thousand Eyes is a gripping family saga, charting the period from World War II to the present day. A suggestive story about the search for one's own identity, guilt and punishment, revenge and forgiveness will lead us to the hell of the concentration camps, of bombed-out German cities, Communist gulags, into the rough and tumble landscape of the Jeseníky Mountains and the luxurious world of the international jet set. It takes us inside the hearts of criminals and their victims, the indomitable desire for life, justice and redemption
When does revenge become forgiveness? Is dying alive worse than dying? Is there a potential killer lurking in all of us? What are the consequences of linking a post-totalitarian oligarchy with an "independent" judiciary? And how do actress Kim Novak, the star of Hitchcock's Vertigo, famous writer Graham Greene and Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal enter the story?
An existential drama with elements of a mystical thriller, its original narrative style escapes all ambiguity and genre clichés. Ivan Fíla has created a modern European novel - a bitter testimony to a past that still shapes our present.
They read: Miroslav Donutil, Tatiana Medvecka, Igor Bareš, Ivana Uhlířová, Lubos Vesely, Pavel Batek, Eva Hacurová

They wrote about the book:

A Thousand Eyes is an extremely powerful novel, a monumental work without exaggeration. Ivan Fíla is blessed with an exceptional talent, the gift of narrating engaging and readable stories. His book is based on an amazingly original idea, perfect knowledge of the setting and characters, including the seemingly peripheral ones. I have no doubt that it will become a great success not only in the Czech Republic.
- Pavel Kříž, actor and psychotherapist

A complex, meticulously detailed story full of suspense, psychologically sculpted and believable characters and beautiful cinematic images. I believe the reader will be as hooked as I was and won't be able to eat, sleep or think about anything else until the last page.
