Floex: Zorya - LP

Floskule' s “eagerly awaited album“ is one of the most overused. In the case of Floex, the impatient look gradually turned into a patient one, and then it was only hoped that it was not in vain. However, even if Tomáš Dvořák sometimes takes the time, the result is always worth it in the end. After 10 years, his second studio album “Zorya“ is released and it seems that it will become an equally important act on the Czech scene, as was the case with the first album “Pocustone“.

Acoustic instruments - clarinets, saxophones and thick-walled “Nordic piano“ - contrast with the digital magic taking place in Tomáš' s sound laboratory. The result is eleven musical stories that focus on the Floex' s universe, which is difficult to classify in style. The inspiration of “classic minimalism“ can be traced, as well as the soundtrack haze of the album, yet Zorya is not an ambient record - carefully crafted beats characterized by their non-traditional tectonics, they are an important element here. What' s more, this is without a doubt the most energetic and most dynamic work in Floex' s discography. However, Tomáš doses the work with energy very carefully and lets it be fully manifested only in the highlights of the album.

What would a record be without guests who met across geographical boundaries and with whom the author mostly connected through his soundtrack work. Casanova would hardly be the trumpet of Oskar Török, Precious Creature without the vocals of James Rone from Minneapolis, Veronika' s Dream without the cello of the Berlin Philharmonic Tomáš Jamník or Nel Blu without the empathic singing Marinella Mastrosimone from the Italian project Musetta.

Unlike the previous titles “Zorya“, whose name is inspired by the Slavic goddess of the night “Zorya Polunochnaya“, she explores deeper and more subconscious layers of emotions in music. Just as the moon shines with the borrowed light of the Sun, so the album Zorya indirectly but strongly reflects what has accumulated in Tomáš over the last ten years. The songs are characterized by their variability, adventure and organicness. They sound like this and at the same time evoke a different time and space. Musica nocturna today and especially nights!

In 2011, the album Zorya won a double award in the Anděl genre awards, both in the electronic and alternative awards sections. He was also shortlisted in the Apollo and Vinyl alternative music awards.

New album after 10 years!
