Fráňa Šrámek: The Silver Wind

The burning promise of beauty, happiness, love and goodness - all of which sound to Jeník Ratkin the "silver wind" of his youth? And just as urgently as it sounded to the central hero of Fráni Šrámek's novel of the same name, it resonated not only with his contemporaries, but also with at least two generations of Czech readers for whom The Silver Wind has become a generational novel. The reading was prepared for a sequel in 1977 by director Josef Melč, starring Alfred Strejček.
