Fulmaya

Fulmaya is the Nepalese flower of love. It is both the name given to Dorota Nvotová on her trek around Annapurna and the title of her travel book. Not exactly a traditional travel book. It's the story of a young actress and singer who goes on a journey to discover and change herself and, in a way, the world. The book opens with the author's failing marriage and her decision to embark on a trek to the Himalayas all alone. Eventually she and her husband will travel to Sri Lanka and together they will also travel through Mauritius, South America and India. And then she falls in love with another man and goes to Nepal alone. She comes across an advert that leads her to an orphanage where she starts helping out. He starts a Nepali travel agency and divides his life between Slovakia and Nepal. "Life - half a year there and half a year there - seems to have worked out for me. That it can work like this after all. An artist in Europe and an orphanage manager and tour organiser in Nepal... It seems to work..." says Dorota.
