Glossary of epidemiological terminology
The book defines and explains in the form of slogans the concepts used in the study of the occurrence, distribution and causes of mass diseases and health disorders. The main goal of the publication is to unify epidemiological terminology, leading to the use of standard and comparable terms in scientific and routine work, and thus to better mutual understanding - both in the fields of epidemiology and public health, as well as among other medical disciplines. The work includes entries on general epidemiology with a focus on the epidemiology of infectious diseases, epidemiological methodology, the most common health statistics terms used by epidemiologists, but also selected concepts from related medical disciplines, such as infectious medicine, medical microbiology and hygiene. For many entries, their English equivalents are given to facilitate orientation in the English literature. The publication is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students of epidemiology. It is indispensable for those across the spectrum of public health and clinical disciplines who are interested in the epidemiological aspects of their field.
