Godmothers

Filomena is a bright and resourceful Italian woman with a difficult childhood who arrives during the Second World War to marry Mario, the family's Benjamín. Amie, a beautiful and dreamy French girl from New York State, falls in love with the eldest of the brothers, Johnny, and with his help escapes her rude husband. Lucy, an indomitable Irish nurse, leaves a strictly run bachelor pad and marries Frankie, the animalistic middle son. And the only daughter in the family, the dazzling Petrina, graduated with honors from Barnard College despite experiencing trauma that nearly caused a family scandal.

All four women became godmothers to each other's children and found hope and refuge in their husbands' prosperous family and their luxurious home. They enjoyed New York life with its fine dining, well-stocked department stores and sophisticated nightclubs.

But secrets from their past surface, leading to unexpected consequences and betrayals that threaten to expose their ingenious plans. And when their husbands are pulled away from the home hearth by war or other duties, the godmothers themselves must contend with gangsters like Frank Costello and Lucky Luciano who dominate the streets of New York.

The Godmothers refuse to accept the rules of a man's world and rise above their differences and friction to work together to protect their loved ones and find their own path to success, love, forgiveness and the future they have always dreamed of.
