In the Philanthro-Adventurers programme, around 500 children and young people learn how to help others every year. They bake, cook, draw, sing, rehearse theatre performances or organise running races to raise money for those who need it. In the process, they learn how to work together as a team, how to communicate with journalists or find more sponsors, and above all, how to look at the world around them to see who really needs help. We support the Philanthro-Adventurers teams financially, through education and with tailored consultations.

Philanthro-Adventurers—or how helping can be an adventure
They've known how to help since childhood
The main goal of the Philanthro-Adventurers programme is for children and young people to see helping others as a natural part of life and to continue doing so even after their involvement in the programme ends. This is successful for more than 80% of them. What's more, they naturally involve their friends, parents, siblings and neighbours in their efforts. .

The Strawberry Fair
What does a typical supported team and project look like? The student parliament at the primary school in Karlovy Vary is always busy. In addition to negotiating students' needs, they also enjoy organising charity events. In June, they organised the Strawberry Fair, where visitors could taste sweet treats and buy products made by pupils from across the school. They donated the proceeds from the event to help a sick friend who suffers from muscular dystrophy.
What they said about the project
"The benefit of the project is the collaboration between students, the realisation of their own ideas, the art of communicating and organising. I am absolutely sure that they all now know that helping is a matter of course and it gives them great joy," says Romana Havrdová, a teacher and patron of one of the Philanthro-Adventurers teams. .

About the Foundation
For 22 years, the Via Foundation has been opening up paths to the art of living together and the art of giving. We strive for a Czech Republic where more people care for their communities together and give to others. Our vision is a society where most people act freely and bravely, taking responsibility for themselves and their surroundings. Since 1997, we have supported over 5,000 projects and initiatives with CZK 356 million, from people who decided to change their surroundings into a better place to live. "

Organisation's Guarantor
"If Czech society is to develop for the better, it is essential that there are more enlightened donors who devote their money or energy to a good cause. That is why we are guiding children and young people directly in schools towards an interest in their surroundings and philanthropy as a love for people. We believe that it is the young generation that can be a great engine for change," says Zdeněk Mihalco, Director of the Via Foundation. He has been involved in community development and philanthropy at the foundation since 2015, having previously worked in the media as a reporter and editor for Aktuálně.cz, Hospodářské noviny and Forbes magazine.
