Grateful Dead: Ready Or Not (2019) - CD

In 1989, Grateful Dead were set to release their final studio album, Built To Last. However, they continued to write new songs, which they added to their concert repertoire during the nineties. They never got the chance to record them in the studio, as singer and guitarist Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995. Only live versions of these songs have survived. Nine previously unreleased recordings are now available on CD and LP, curated by the band's archivist David Lemieux, under the title Ready Or Not.

The legendary rock band from San Francisco was formed in 1965 and is one of the key representatives of the golden age of rock music. At the turn of the sixties and seventies, they became famous for their long and wild improvisations during live performances. Their work incorporated influences from a wide variety of musical styles, from rock and psychedelia to folk and bluegrass, and even gospel, jazz, and reggae. The band broke up in 1995 following the death of its leading figure, guitarist and singer Jerry Garcia. In 2007, the band received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
