Horse versus Spork
Count Špork is generally perceived as a philanthropist, patron of the arts, and freethinker. He was indeed all of these things, but he also had a number of bad qualities that are not usually mentioned – he was headstrong and confrontational. The Jesuit priest Koniáš, on the other hand, entered history as a thoroughly repulsive figure, a religious fanatic, a censor, and a book burner. This is also true, but Koniáš also had many good qualities that are not usually mentioned. This historical novel, which depicts the conflict between the church and Špork, is strictly based on historical facts, including court records from the heresy trial of 1792–1733.
