Houbeles Musicus - CD

A musical feast made from 50 types of mushrooms, Houbeles Musicus is a rhyming mushroom atlas for children.
The book Houbeles Pictus was the inspiration for this new recording, intended for mushroom pickers of all ages. The poems by Petr Maděra were set to music by Alžběta Trojanová and 45 musicians and actors took part in interpreting the songs – including members of the bands Traband, The Plastic People of The Universe, Dick O'Brass and Bezobratři.

Just like in the book, each track on the recording is preceded by a spoken riddle, narrated by Arnošt Goldflam, followed by a sung answer about a specific mushroom. The CD also includes a fairy tale, which is partly read and partly set to music, and several other poems from the world of fungi.

Most of the songs are accompanied by acoustic instruments, which are associated with edible mushrooms, while the songs about poisonous mushrooms also use electric instruments to represent a touch of a different and treacherous world within nature. The aim of the musical arrangement is to foster a sense of diverse musical harmonies and moods in children. The pervasive humour and the characters of the individual mushrooms will captivate listeners both young and old.

This CD is essential holiday travel gear for all children, parents, and grandparents who occasionally venture into the woods and nature to learn about and pick mushrooms!
