Perhaps no other historical epoch in our history is as controversial in the general perception as Hussitism. The historically faithfully described events form the backdrop of a readable and thrilling story of the extended Prokop family, whose members are pitted against each other by an inexorable fate.
The third part takes place between 1426 and 1437. The Prokop family experiences the crisis of the Hussite Revolution. Famine, pestilence, the disruption of the country and moral devastation are the fate of the country and of the Prokop family. The book describes the end of radical Hussitism, the decline of the field armies, the proceedings of the Council of Basel, the accession of Emperor Sigismund to the Bohemian royal throne and his death.
PhDr. Vlastimil Vondruška, CSc.
PhDr. Vlastimil Vondruška, CSc. is a Czech historian, publicist and author of historical detective stories. He was awarded the Literary Fund Prize for his literary work in 1987, the Golden Ribbon in the Non-Fiction and Popular Science Literature for Young People category in 2005, and the MOBA Readers' Prize in 2006 and 2007.
In 1979, he successfully completed his studies in history and ethnography at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and then spent several years as a researcher at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, where he worked with the Institute for Ethnography and Folklore Studies. In the 1980s he was the director of the historical part of the National Museum and in the 1990s he and his wife started a business in the field of making copies of historical glass.
He developed a taste for writing in his youth and is now the author of more than 50 scholarly studies, numerous historical novels for adults, and several popular and award-winning books for children and young adults. He is also in cooperation with Czech Radio, where he regularly performs and presents interesting events from Czech history and the life of people in the Middle Ages.
It has now gained its readers especially with its historical saga from the reign of the Přemyslids: Premyslid Epic I - Great King Premysl I. Otakar, Premyslid Epic II - One-eyed King Wenceslas I, Premyslid Epic III - King Knight Premysl II. Otakar and the Premyslid Epic IV. - The poet king Wenceslas II. Very popular are also the cycles of historical detective stories from ancient times past (Sinful People of the Bohemian Kingdom, 1995), as well as suspenseful prose from the 16th century (Chronicles of the Royal Chamber I -VIII, 2006-2013) and since 2002 a regularly published cycle with the royal prosecutor Oldřich of Chlum from the reign of King Přemysl Otakar II.
