Agatha Christie's Detective Story with Hercule Poirot I Saw a Murder
"That's not stupid!" Joyce defended herself. "I saw a murder! I saw!"
Ariadne Oliver found herself at a teen Halloween party quite by accident, but many know that she is a famous mystery author. One of the invited girls - perhaps to get attention - confides that she once saw a murder too, but of course no one believes her. On the agenda for the party, which takes place in a palatial house on Woodleigh Common, is a competition for the best decorated broom, because of the half-sheet, the cake is cut from puffed flour, the girls look in the mirrors in hope, to see the face of her groom, and children in pairs compete in catching apples with their mouths from a bucket filled with water. At the end of the party, however, Joyce turns up missing. When her corpse is found in the library, a distraught Mrs Oliver immediately seeks out her friend Hercule Poirot to help her solve the death of the boastful young lady.
Even in the successful TV adaptation with David Suchet, the character of au pair Olga Seminoff is featured. It was based on a teacher from Prachatice with whom Agatha Christie corresponded for many years.
