Invisible roots
Blood is Thicker than Water. A novelistic chronicle of a family caught in the whirlwind of Czechoslovak history.
November 1989. University student Pavel lives through the events of the revolutionary days, which are marred by a family tragedy: his father, a member of the StB, commits suicide. What's more, Pavel learns that he is adopted, and so begins the search for his roots. Not long after the Second World War, Tomáš and Anežka, employees of the Baťa company, try to flee their homeland across the guarded border. What do these destinies, decades apart, have in common and how will they be affected by the turmoil of history?
We were Czechs, Germans and Jews all at once. And fate punished us for each of those nationalities.
