Invisible Women

A provocative book that will make you see the world through new eyes

Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development and healthcare to education, politics and public administration—we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make important decisions. However, a significant amount of this data fails to take gender into account—it treats men as the default and women as the deviation. But women are paying for this bias with their time, their money and often with their lives.
In Invisible Women, Caroline Criado Perez explores the causes of gender inequality in our homes, workplaces, doctors' surgeries, politics and other areas. Built on hundreds of case studies from around the world, and written with energy, wit and sparkling intelligence, this is a groundbreaking, unforgettable book that will change the way you see the world.

Quotation mark 1

What they wrote about the book:

Invisible Women is a game-changer; an uncompromising onslaught of facts—sad, mad, bad and funny—that builds a compelling case, and does so brilliantly. [...] The ambition and scope of Invisible Women is huge; it is nothing less than the story of what happens when we forget to account for half of humanity. It should be on the shelf of every legislator, policymaker and manager.

Criado Perez is not setting out to prove some grand conspiracy; she is simply wielding data like a laser, slicing through the fog of unconscious and unthinking decisions with devastatingly clean cuts.
