Ivan Kraus: Horse doesn't eat cucumber salad

The protagonist of Ivan Kraus's story is a doctor of philosophy, political scientist and specialist on the Eastern Bloc, who returns home after years spent in the United States in 1989. However, a very different world awaits him than the one he imagined. Everything has changed in his long absence, and most of all the people themselves. The village where our hero settles down is quite different from the Ladov village he has dreamed up. Let's not be far from the truth, if we conclude that the doctor's story also reflected the experiences and feelings of Ivan Kraus, Writer, actor and world traveler, who lived in many different countries after emigrating in 1968 and still moves between the Czech Republic, France and Germany. The author's reading from the book of the same name was prepared by Lenka Jaklová.
