When the teacher Marcela loses her job, her life slowly begins to fall apart. She wanders aimlessly through the housing estate, and over time, people start calling her simply Marmalade. She never quite fitted in anywhere, and as fragments of her past are gradually uncovered, her hard-to-understand vulnerability and inability to defend herself are also revealed. Despite her harsh circumstances, she retains a special kindness and a sincere desire to help.
