“The album brings many intertwining guitar motifs, styles and moods, so it' s a good idea to have a map with you, so that the listener does not get lost, ”Explains Slovak singer and guitarist Miloš Janoušek, why he named his solo album Maps of the Labyrinth. Janoušek, the founding figure of Slovak folk, recorded a purely instrumental album for the first time, on which he introduces himself as a brilliant acoustic guitar player who can speak with the abstract language of tones as urgently as in the lyrics of his songs.

Miloš Janoušek was born in Bratislava in 1952. His artistic career began in the first half of the 1970s on the boards of Prague (during his studies) and later of Bratislava' s theaters. In 1975 he started performing in a singing duo with Dušan Valúch, in 1979 he co-founded the singing association Slnovrat and in 1985 he joined Dušan Valúch and Karel Svozil and their trio still forms the basis of the folk group Jednofázové kvasenie. In 2001 he founded a website dedicated to the folk Folknet.sk, in 2006 as the leader of the author' s team he presented the fundamental monograph Folk in Slovakia.

At present, Miloš Janoušek is still a member of the group Jednofázové kvasenie, with which he recorded his last album Rybí menuet in 2016. As a solo guitarist, he introduced himself in 2012 on the album of the Slnovrat song association called Triquetra, for which, among other things, he wrote and recorded the title instrumental composition. In the novel Map of the Labyrinth, he introduces himself as a player and author influenced by folk, Renaissance music, blues and country. In addition to his own compositions, the Breton traditionalist Hanter Dro, the English ballad Packington' s Pound, one composition by the Renaissance composer John Dowland and one composition by the contemporary Scottish guitarist Dick Gaughan included the album.
