Jarret: Behind the Edges - CD

The band Jarret significantly pushes its music beyond the boundaries within which it has been perceived until now. On the album, you'll hear everything from chanson-style ballads and hard rock tracks to catchy pop, and in one case, the band has even revived a protest song. You will also enjoy these genre fusions within individual songs.

Despite its genre diversity, the album 'Za hrany' feels very cohesive and carries Jarret's distinct signature. The recording combines the mature musicianship of Jarret's members with the fresh and highly sensitive approach of musical director Peter Binder, who breathed real life into the band's studio recording. The band once again draws from its strong songwriting foundation.

Eight of the songs are credited to Jarret's main songwriter, Bohouš Vašák, who also presents himself on the album as a charismatic singer. Pavel Havlík, Jakub Noha, and Martin Kadlec also contributed as songwriters. The album was recorded at Svárov studio, with Lukáš Martínek handling the sound engineering. The band utilised its internal potential, with the excellent pedal steel guitarist David Babka helping out on only four songs, and in one case, both directors – Peter Binder and Lukáš Martínek – also played. However, the recording is dominated, as on previous albums, by the beautiful, colourful, and distinctive voice of singer Hanka Skřivánková.
