Jawa, my destiny
JUDr. Jaroslav Frei is a little-known personality today, although we owe him much. His name faded away, his merits were appropriated by others. Through his own diligence, he worked his way up to become the director of Jawa. The owner himself, František Janeček, not only entrusted him with the running of his factory when he was running out of strength, but also made him the executor of his will. And what do we owe Frei? Maybe a Jawa 250 Perak. It was Jaroslav Frei who instigated and supported the secret work that was carried out in Jawa during the war. Why have we forgotten Jaroslav Frei? Because he did not let himself be broken after the communist coup in February 1948. When STB officers rang the doorbell of his Prague apartment early one morning, he escaped through the balcony, down the elevator shaft and continued on to the West under dramatic circumstances.
