Jules Verne: Around the Moon
Jules Verne, in an almost oracular manner, predicted many of the elements that humans would later use in going to the moon, confronting conflicting scientific opinions and always stopping in time when the narrative became too unbelievable. He used humour and irony to mask the lack of human knowledge about the moon.
A literary critic praised Verne in Le Temps: "Mr. Verne possesses two qualities rarely found in one man: the precision of a scientist and the imagination of a first-class storyteller." These two qualities are happily combined in the book Around the Moon.
The ten-part reading in continuation from the translation by Jaroslav Čermák was prepared by Barbora Bukovinská. Directed by Vlad Rusk, it stars Jiří Ornest.
