Julie Lakatošová
A book about the search for meaning in a meaningless time – and also about loss and Russia. Several narrators from a single Czech-Russian family, who take little Julie into foster care, take turns telling their story. How does such a process work, and what doubts and difficulties will the family face? The question of accepting a stranger is also treated here as a problem of fear of the unknown and uncertain. This polyphony, combined with fictional documentary interviews about Russia, sketches out a world where origin and otherness are ultimately not so important, but rather what connects us all.
