Kenta KattyGyal: Invisible Roots - CD

Singer KattyGyal Kenta, with her unique vocal colour, has released her long-awaited debut album. This diverse reggae record, defined by dub and digital styles, features a total of 14 tracks.

The album is sonically very diverse, yet its structure follows an almost natural order. “A tree starts with its roots, which help it to stand firm so its trunk and crown can reach for the sky,” explains Kenta. “My album begins with rocksteady and new roots tracks, representing the beginnings of reggae in general, as well as my own beginnings in the band SAS – my roots. The second half of the album, however, openly belongs to steppa dub, which has completely captivated me and is carrying me up into the cosmos.”

Over the last three years, while travelling for her live shows, Kenta has become more closely acquainted with soundsystem culture and has completely fallen for dub. This is naturally reflected in her work, so her current playlist features reggae more strictly defined by dub and digital.
Dubwise appealed to KattyGyal Kenta not only musically, but also for its spiritual dimension. Dub is always accompanied by lyrics with deeper meaning and a touch of spirituality. It offers a balance between profound thought and dynamic electronic music. Kenta's lyrics are about finding a balance between nature and the city, between our fast-paced modern era and inner peace, and about finding oneself.
