Key Largo - Blu-ray

A hurricane is raging outside, but that's nothing compared to the storm brewing inside the hotel on Key Largo. Sadistic gangster Johnny Rocco (Edward G. Robinson) is hiding out, holding hotel owner Nora Temple (Lauren Bacall), her wheelchair-bound father-in-law (Lionel Barrymore), and ex-soldier Frank McCloud (Humphrey Bogart) at gunpoint. McCloud is the only one capable of standing up to the aggressive Rocco, but the reality of the post-war world seems to have drained him of all his will to fight. John Huston co-wrote the screenplay and skilfully directed this adaptation of Maxwell Anderson's 1939 play, which is adorned with a remarkable Oscar-winning* performance by Claire Trevor as Rocco's kind-hearted, alcoholic mistress. In Huston's hands, this drama became a powerful, sizzling classic.
