Kovářík Mirek: Orten: Elegie - CD

The poet Jiří Orten (1919-1941) has addressed many generations of readers with his lyrics. A few weeks before his tragic death in occupied Prague in 1941, he completed a set of nine elegies, a marvelous poetic will to say goodbye to his life.
Orten' s Elegy is not an expression of fear or dread of what is to come, even though there is sorrow in every verse at the knowledge of the end and inevitability of the last things of man, in his case barely twenty-two years old.

Mirek Kovářík met Orten' s poetry as early as 1963, he recited it repeatedly, and after more than half a century he finally recorded his adaptation of Elegy accompanied by Jiří Pertl. With his captivating presentation, he fulfills Orten' s message, in which he transforms the image of Death into the Beauty of the Statement and in the consolation that nothing ends in every word of these poems aimed at the heart of anyone who feels the need to accept the poet' s message. Kovářík now passes on Orten' s “Endless Story“ to its listeners.
