Leather Magdalena: Soirée - CD

Soirée captures the atmosphere of informal home music. Mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená offers an intimate selection of songs, accompanied by excellent musicians and her friends, including Sir Simon Rattle, for whom it is a recording debut in the role of pianist.
The German Lieder is represented on the CD by Johannes Brahms (Zwei Gesänge, Op. 91 and Fünf Ophelia-Lieder, WoO 22) and Richard Strauss (Morning! op. 27 no. 4), French songs by Ernest Chausson (Chanson perpétuelle) and Maurice Ravel (Chansons madécasses) and the avant-garde of the 20th century Stravinsky' s Three Songs to the lyrics of William Shakespeare.
Magdalena could not miss even Czech songs: you will hear a selection of Dvořák' s songs arranged by Duncan Ward and the Rhythm of Magdalena' s beloved Leoš Janáček.

CD Soirée is the second CD released as part of an exclusive collaboration between Magdalena and the recording label PENTATONE, following the release of a Baroque cantata recital album called Il giardino dei sospiri earlier this year.
