In 1934, the Czech actress Lída Baarová was invited to the Babelsberg film studios in Berlin, considered to be European Hollywood. After initial difficulties, he will eventually enchant crowds of fans all over Germany. The press will bring her to the front pages as one of the most beautiful women in Europe. He enjoys the fame and affection of Gustav Fröhlich, the then idol of all German women. He is not only her partner in front of the camera, but he will also become her lover. Admiration is not hidden by Hitler himself, who, after visiting the studios, invites Baar to a private audience at the Reich Chancellery. Baar' s star is rising sharply .
Lída and Fröhlich move into a luxury villa at a prestigious Berlin address. Unaware that they have such an important neighbor - the lord of the film industry, propaganda minister Goebbels. Goebbels begins to invite them to famous parties with the participation of artistic and political cream. And with them, he gradually draws Baar into his “devilish“ nets. Fröhlich is jealous and drives her out of the house after one of many other jealous climbs. The headlessly in love Devil is waiting for this opportunity. Baar rejects the offer for a long-term engagement in Hollywood, stays in Berlin and fails her new love uncontrollably. During Crystal Night in 1938, she manages to escape back to her homeland, where she makes several more successful films. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia, however, he must flee from the Nazis again. When the war ends, he returns to Prague full of hope. Here, however, he encounters only ridicule and humiliation. But the real hell awaits her.
