Life for a penny, death for two

A fascinating story of a folk healer, witch and psychic, a young self-confident woman who gradually controls the thinnest threads of the destinies of the powerful men of Rudolfinum Prague, led by Emperor Rudolf II, with her cleverness, magic and beauty. Her overwhelming desire to become a renowned healer and owner of her dream apothecary drives her to the "Big City", out of the foothills, where the herbalism, treatment, blessing and cursing is passed down from mother to daughter, for many generations. As a young girl, Atropa is sent to the Prague executioner's cell, where she becomes not only the herbalist assistant of the executioner's housekeeper Marta, but also the passionate lover of the future Old Town executioner Jan Mydlář.
