Like Never - DVD

The end of summer in the film "LIKE NEVER BEFORE" also means the end of a life. Vladimír Holas is dying. Who is Vladimír Holas? A painter, sculptor, and teacher of regional importance. He painted many beautiful pictures – but not as great as he wished.
He wasn't in the Party, he wasn't in the Union of Fine Artists, he didn't sell out to the previous regime. His house in the beautiful countryside is his last refuge; death is inevitable and he doesn't want to die in an impersonal hospital. He wants to fall while standing, just as he lived.

Three characters are key to this intimate film; alongside the main protagonist are two women: Karla, around thirty-five, is somewhat similar to her life partner: a painter, a bohemian, never one to mince her words. In contrast to those two is Jaruna, a married woman of about fifty-five, a nurse. She was once the painter's mistress.
This trio wages a futile battle with death, fighting with themselves and, at the same time, with each other – which brings a certain cleansing to each of them.
