After quitting medical school, Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) has become a professional slacker. The only thing he's good at is charming women. This talent requires some serious persuasive skills, so Jamie is drawn to a job as a representative for a large pharmaceutical corporation, tasked with pushing their products onto doctors so they can prescribe them to their patients. While waiting for an appointment in a surgery, he sees HER – the beautiful and sensual Maggie (Anne Hathaway). It only takes Jamie a few minutes to arrange a date, and it takes just as long for their romantic getting-to-know-you to end up in bed. It's as if Maggie is short on time for everything.
