Maltese aid

Maltese Aid is a non-profit organization founded by the Czech Grand Priory of the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta. Provides social services (personal assistance, social activation of seniors, helping homeless people, help for families with children), accompanies foster families, accompanies handicapped children to schools and implements various volunteer programs, in 13 branches in the Czech Republic. The basic goal of Maltese aid is to serve the suffering and needy in the spirit of Christian love of neighbor. The result of the activity is to help people to integrate into the life of society within the physical and mental capabilities of a particular individual. Maltese aid prevents or alleviates the social isolation of clients. It provides services in an environment that is close to the client and is not unpleasant for him. An important part of the services is personal assistance. All services are provided in the Czech Republic. Maltese aid has 13 centers: Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Mělník, Uherské Hradiště, Otrokovice, Žatec, Přerov, Sumperk, Jeseník, Valašské meziříčí, Prostějov and Černošice. In total, it employs over 200 employees and regularly has around 500 volunteers a year. The largest annual event organized by Maltese Aid is the International Meeting of Wheelchair Users in Velehrad as part of the Days of People of Good Will, where around 150 disabled clients meet regularly.
