Railway watchman Douša and his wife Anna save the life of young Ferda, who tries to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train after a failed romance. While rescuing him, Douša slips on the embankment and shortly afterwards goes deaf. Ferda soon forgets his sorrow and begins to court Anna, turning her head. One day, she confesses to her husband, unaware that his hearing has already returned.

This brings her closer to the countess and the duchess, the village girl Krista, the mad Viktorka, and especially her perceptive granddaughter Barunka.

The Dancer, 1943, 94 min.
The story of a famous prima ballerina, set in the 1880s. The main character, Clo Satranová, is a solo dancer. She performs on Europe's leading stages while her sister raises her daughter. When the callous mother decides to change her life, she discovers she has lost the most precious thing of all – the love of her child.
The film loosely follows the theme and style of Night Butterfly. In its day, it was one of the most expensive films, and even after many years, its meticulous period production and beautiful costumes, which enhance the charm of Marie Glázrová, are still captivating.

Rozina, the Foundling, 1945, 88 min.,
The story takes place in Prague at the beginning of the 17th century. Rozina learns from her mother that she is, in fact, a foundling. The emotionally deprived girl clings to her first love – the Italian glassmaker Nikola. He abandons her, even though he swore his loyalty. Rozina therefore marries the old and wealthy master bricklayer Karfa without love, who promised to buy her a patent of marital origin after the wedding. However, the miserly Karfa does not keep his promise. Rozina meets Nikola again and becomes his mistress. For this, she is cast out of her home, and dramatic moments are not far behind.
