Martin Fourcade. My Last Season

Martin Fourcade is a French legend who ruled the world of biathlon for seven years. For seven years he won, standing on the top step of the podium in every other race on average. He got used to it. But in the 2018–2019 season, he experienced something he wasn't prepared for. He stopped succeeding. He couldn't understand what was happening; his body simply wasn't responding the way he was used to. And he wasn't the only one who was surprised; the entire biathlon world was in shock. He experienced a huge slump. He had to dig very deep. But at the end of that unsuccessful season, he didn't want to give up and began preparing for the next one, which, unbeknownst to him at the time, would be his last.

This new book by Martin Fourcade is an intimate diary he kept during that final season. We follow him through the various World Cup stops and get a glimpse into his private life. We experience his deep joy and humility when he manages to win again, realising how much he had taken his victories for granted. He returns to the top and appreciates everything he has achieved so much more. Although he is just two points away from the final large crystal globe at the end, he wins the last race of his career. He leaves as a king. The king is dead, long live the king.

At the end of his stellar career, Martin Fourcade shares with us the diary he kept during his last season. It is complemented by colour illustrations from 14-year-old Russian fan, Oksana Pinchukova.
