Mary's heart will prevail
Mirjana Soldo (née Dragićević) was born on 18 March 1965 in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, back when it was still socialist Yugoslavia. She used to spend her holidays with relatives in the remote mountain village of Medjugorje. She was only sixteen when she and five other children saw a mysterious Lady (Gospa), who then began to form them spiritually and, through her messages, to address believers far beyond the borders of this small parish. It is no wonder that the subsequent events dramatically changed the children's lives, and that extraordinary grace was accompanied by extraordinary trials and suffering.
Mirjana recounts how it all began and what it caused within themselves and in their surroundings; how she had to face the distrust of her loved ones, interrogations and intimidation from the police, church commissions and psychiatric examinations... not to mention the pressure from journalists or the daily influx of pilgrims and various curious onlookers. From her autobiography, we learn a lot about life in the former Yugoslavia and after the loosening of the Eastern Bloc, but also many interesting facts and funny stories from behind the scenes of the visionaries. We read about the horrors of the war in Yugoslavia, but above all about the wonderful work of God's providence, which today bears visible fruit all over the world.
Even forty years after the first apparition, crowds of people continue to flock to Medjugorje, seeking a place of prayer, light on their path, healing, vocation—in short, God and his grace. Thanks to Mirjana, we now have this amazing “first-hand” testimony at our disposal.
