Memphis Beauty - DVD
They were American “flyboys“ in Britain, brave young men fighting thousands of miles away from their homes for foreign freedom, and they owned the skies over the whole of World War II.
They went into service even though they knew that their chances of returning overseas were not dizzyingly high. They could serve on the most famous bomber of their time, on the flying fortress B-17 nicknamed after the painting on the fuselage of the Memphis beauty, and for a similar chance many would sacrifice anything. What' s more, they could really feel like heroes - under Captain Dearborn' s leadership, they had already survived twenty-four devastating carpet raids on Germany, and their service was essentially over.
The last attack remained, which was to take place on May 17. Attack on Bremen. But recent events are usually the most treacherous. Will the Beauty of Memphis stand in her final mission?
An excellent, absolutely realistic war drama, copying the story of a true aviation legend, was shot in 1990 by Scottish director Michael Caton-Jones.
