Flood protection has received a lot of attention over the last two decades due to recurring flood hazards. However, cultural heritage is still somewhat marginalised. It is specific to this issue that elements of cultural heritage can be damaged not only by the flood itself, but also by unprofessional remediation interventions after the flood.

This book was written to disseminate information on flood protection and to raise general awareness of preventive and remedial measures that can be applied to this special category.

The book Monuments and Floods presents information and methodological procedures (a set of steps and measures) that can be applied when planning and implementing flood protection for listed and otherwise valuable buildings, as well as the implementation of remediation measures in the event that they have been damaged.
