Moravec Ivan: Chopin: Nocturne (2x CD) - CD

One of the first recordings that brought Ivan Moravec respect and secured his place among the best pianists of the 20th century was a set of Chopin's Nocturnes made in 1965 in New York (Steinway piano) and at the Konzerthaus in Vienna (Bösendorfer) for the Connoisseur Society label.

Many critics call this recording Nokturen as the reference and the best; in the words of Henry Fogel (Fanfare): ". draws the listener deep into the music itself - not into the world of the performer, but directly into that of Chopin. "Ivan Moravec narrates the Nocturnes in an admirable range of colours and dynamics (down to incredibly subtle, barely touched tones), in the natural flow of the music, as if there were no bar lines and individual notes. Supraphon presents this legendary recording with sensitively remastered sound that reveals the greater richness of Moravec's piano colours.
