Who poisoned the editor-in-chief of a collaborationist newspaper?
And how is a mysterious advert, a secret box with compromising material and a famous actress with a bad reputation connected to this case? The final part of the detective trilogy by Josef Škvorecký and Jan Zábrana takes place in 1941. Doctor Pivoňka from the Ostrozrak detective agency is this time searching for the murderer of the editor-in-chief of a collaborator newspaper. During the party, he was poisoned with cyanide from a vial that is only given to Nazi leaders. The detective is helped in his search by his friend Boženka, a swing singer who has already gained a reputation on the Prague jazz scene and is also a very skilled solver of puzzles, crosswords and brain teasers. The case involves a mysterious advertisement, a secret box in an unknown location and a famous Czech actress who sold herself to the Nazis for her career.
