Nervák: The Millionairess Murder

Following the brutal death of his wife, Captain Jiří Majer, a former elite police detective nicknamed “Nervák” (Hothead), not only lost the love of his life, but also his ability to control his temper. His explosive nature, sharp tongue, and constant conflicts with those around him eventually cost him his job with the police, despite having an extraordinary instinct and a talent for uncovering the truth where others faltered. He sometimes works as a security guard in Prague supermarkets, moving from one job to the next because he pulls no punches with anyone. Meanwhile, Prague is shaken by the murder of Sylvie Svobodová, a wealthy broker and philanthropist – a woman with no past, no friends, and almost no trace, as if she had never truly existed. Colonel Michal Vacek is under immense pressure from influential people who demand quick results, but the detectives have no motive, no suspects, and not a single usable piece of evidence. In desperation, Major Pavel Šimek, the head of the department, visits Nervák in his neglected flat and offers him a return to the investigation as an external consultant, which Majer initially flatly refuses. However, everything changes the moment he hears the one strange clue – a witness supposedly heard Sylvie scream the word “Sheol” into the phone shortly before her death, the same word he once came across while searching for his wife’s killer.
