The first book in the new Expansion series by Joshua Dalzelle
The war with the Phage was devastating for the Terran Confederation. Although the fearsome enemy is destroyed, humanity finds no peace. Political alliances collapse and powerful fleets lie in ruins. Even after absolute victory, there is nothing to celebrate.
But we soon discover that we have other alien neighbours… who watched the conflict with great interest. One race comes forward with an offer of friendship and alliance, but humanity is too weary and distrustful, as our first contact with aliens almost ended in our complete annihilation.
Before the ashes of war can settle, Captain Celesta Wright is sent to the Borderlands with a small task force to investigate a mysterious signal, while the Confederation does its best not to fall apart. A partnership with an alien race could speed up recovery, but their offer is just too good to be true. Can humanity afford another alien conflict so soon after the bloodiest war we have ever fought ends?
