After daily strenuous and intensive physio and occupational therapy rehabilitation at the Paraple Center, wheelchair users need to rest, relax and also learn new information after spinal cord injury. Television and the programs in it are their faithful and good companions at the moment. Existing TVs are not ready to switch to the new DVB-T2 broadcasting standard, so they are gradually becoming inoperable. We would like to buy new TVs, which will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of clients' stays at the Paraple Center.

We perceive the need for a TV set in the room as crucial for clients after spinal cord injury. During the day, even after a demanding daily rehabilitation, they need to regularly lighten their body, change position and lie down in a room environment. We try to make the client feel comfortable in the room environment, have space to relax and access the information he receives through the television.

About a non-profit organization
Centrum Paraple is a non-profit company founded by Zdeněk Svěrák and the civic association Svap paraplegiků. Since 1994, it has helped people paralyzed after spinal cord injury to adapt to a new life situation, improve their physical and mental condition, achieve the greatest possible degree of self-sufficiency and independence, return to their natural environment and gain the preconditions for social and employment. We are a support not only during the first months in a new situation, but at any time during life. We are based on the belief that people can live their lives to the fullest and with value after spinal cord injury.
Guarantor of the organization
David graduated from Comenius University in Bratislava with a degree in law. For ten years he worked as a lawyer and later as a marketing specialist in the private sector. Since 2009 he has been volunteering as a member of the board of the Association of Paraplegics. In the period 2010 - 2016 he was a member of the board of directors of the Paraple Center o. p. s., since March 2016 he has been its director. David is the chairman of the Czech Wheelchair Rugby Association and the coach of the national wheelchair rugby team.
