MICHAELA MERGLOVÁ A native of Pilsen, known to fans of Czech genre literature primarily for her heroic fantasy trilogy Song of Steel (2019), Song of the North (2021), and Song of War (2022). Her latest book, the sci-fi thriller Emptiness (2022), was shortlisted for the Magnesia Litera award for fantasy. Her work regularly appears in genre short story collections and anthologies; as a co-editor, she has also compiled two collections (Beauties and Intruders, 2021; Blood, Monsters and Sweets, 2023). She has a long-standing involvement in literary journalism and has been working in marketing for almost ten years. She lives in Prague with her husband and dog, enjoys crocheting, and tries not to kill all the herbs on her balcony (unsuccessfully). KLÁRA SUCHÁ After studying at DAMU in Prague, she worked at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, where she played many notable roles, then guest-starred at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice and the Estates Theatre in Prague. In 2015, she hosted the show Zprávičky on ČT: D for Czech Television. Besides theatre, she fell in love with radio work—she has performed in numerous plays and dramatisations under the direction of well-known directors, with whom she continues to collaborate.
