Southern Moravia has been hit by extreme storms and a tornado. Some parts of the villages in the Břeclav and Hodonín regions are completely devastated. In a matter of moments, thousands of people's entire lives were turned upside down, leaving them in shock on the streets, some wearing only a dressing gown. Their homes have been destroyed, left without roofs and walls. Join the Czech Radio Foundation and Radiožurnál to help them through this fundraising appeal.

Homeless in a Minute
“I was standing by the window and saw the tornado approaching. I just managed to escape to the cellar with my children...” said a resident of the village of Lužice in southern Moravia. When they ran outside, they saw the devastation. Their house had lost its gable wall, windows and roof. Experts will decide if it can be saved at all. There are thousands of stories like this after the unprecedented storm and tornado in the Břeclav and Hodonín regions.

Many people will be starting again from scratch
The Czech Radio Foundation and Radiožurnál are therefore launching a special fundraising appeal for people who have to rebuild their homes and their entire lives. The appeal is starting with 5 million crowns, contributed by Kaufland Czech Republic when the appeal was announced.
Homeless in a Minute
All the money will go to the people affected by this natural disaster. The appeal is guaranteed by the Czech Radio Foundation, which you may know from its long-term projects Světluška (Firefly) and Ježíškova vnoučata (Ježíšek's Grandchildren). It also provided aid during the 2013 floods and in 2015 in earthquake-devastated Nepal.
Please contribute too. Thank you.

About the Czech Radio Foundation
The Czech Radio Foundation was established by Czech Radio in 2000. The foundation's mission is based on the belief that every person is unique and has a special place and role in society. It is therefore important that they are surrounded by an environment in which they can develop their abilities. Through its projects, the foundation creates such an environment and enables people to be part of this space without distinction. The foundation's most famous project is Světluška (Firefly), which helps people with severe visual impairments to live an independent and meaningful life through a public collection. The foundation also mobilises its activities in cases of humanitarian and other charitable aid, such as the Pustevny public collection and the Help Nepal with Us appeal.
