Niccolo Machiavelli: Mandragora

Perhaps the most famous Renaissance comedy, it tells the archetypal story of a love triangle, in which a young and beautiful lady stands between an old, foolish husband and a ghostly admirer. It is the root of the mysterious mandrake that helps to bring the story to a happy conclusion. The play was staged for radio in 1961 by director Jiří Roll. The young couple is represented by Václav Voska and Irena Kačírková, the old husband of Felix Le Breux.
